Prior to his consulting work, Dusty’s life was enriched by his unique set of life experiences. Having grown up in a military family, Dusty has experienced a broad range of life experiences, which he has expanded further through his rich professional career.
From University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Dusty received his MSW degree and has worked as a social worker as the Executive and Clinical Director for two crisis centers, as well as working in private practice as a Licenced Marital and Family Therapist. Dusty is also a Fellow in the School of Engineering at Virginia Tech and is one of only 96 Global Certified Forum Facilitators for the Young Presidents and World Presidents Organization.
Writings of the Heart & Courage
Dusty is the best selling author of four books, The 7 Acts of Courage, The Heart of Leadership, Courage in the Valley of Death, and co-author with Wayne S. Gerber of Dynamic Focus: Creating Significance and Breaking the Spells of Limitation. He has also written more than 300 published articles on leadership, team effectiveness, organizational innovation and personal mastery.
The Seven Acts of Courage breaks new ground in the self-help field, offering clear, practical guidance on how we can seize control of our lives through courage. We must all access more courage to live our lives with greater joy, power, love, integrity, choice, and fullness, envisioning and creating a better tomorrow while finding courage to make required changes.
Leading requires that we offer strategic guidance by understanding and communicating the purpose for which the team or company stands. It also requires the courage to respectfully confront anyone, including ourselves, when actions do not align with that purpose. Leaders can transform companies by focusing on the critical link between results and relationships. Wholehearted leadership can transform a good company into a great one. Learn how to create meaningful relationships in and outside the workplace.
Courage in the Valley of Death is based on a powerful life experience that led to a personal transformation in understanding and approach to living. It is both an inspiration and a practical guide to learning to live with greater courage, grace and joy. Staub offers a clear pathway forward in a short, highly accessible and engaging book. One reviewer says, “This is not a book to read once. It’s a bedside book you need to open many times. It is the ultimate reminder. If you find the heart to practice the small acts of courage, this book has the potential to change your life.”
Dynamic Focus is about creating a meaningful legacy while effectively navigating the inherent multifaceted challenges of life. Mental habits can become subtle traps that distort perceptions, thoughts and relationships into limitations. Dynamic Focus provides a practical, powerful and integrated methodology with tools for breaking these traps or “spells of limitation” and living a more meaningful life.
